Don’t get me wrong, I am a firm believer in the concepts of “treat yo self” “rosรฉ all day” and YOLO, but I also believe in the 80/20 rule, so during the week I like to shift my focus to healthy alternatives that taste just as good as the treat I’m craving. I figured I can’t be alone in this feeling, so without further adieu, here are my top five tasty alternatives that curb my cravings, while keeping me on track:
I love throwing a bunch of things into a bowl, topping them with a fried egg and calling it breakfast. Recently- I was in Phoenix for a much overdue vacation, and while I was there I had some damn tasty Mexican food. So, when I got back and did my weekly grocery shop, I was inspired to plan a week’s worth of Mexican inspired brekkie.ย
Yes the title of this post is supposed to make you laugh, and yes, believe it or not this has been one of my most requested posts since I started blogging. That and a meal plan, but first things first! Let’s start with the most important meal of the day, shall we? Breakfast- it can make or break your morning, and I’m not talking about leaving you hungry. I can’t tell you how many times rushing to get out the door has caused me to burn my eggs, crack eggs on the floor, and say “screw it” to eggs and grab a granola bar or even worse… nothing at all. Then there are those other mornings that #workfromhomelife reminds me that I can indeed whip up something delicious and nutritious in a matter of minutes- it just requires a little patience and a little rhythm, something I tend to lack early in the a.m., or when I’m running late.
So friends- the solution? Prep. Yeah I said it, and no you’re not going to want to do this Sunday afternoon, but will you thank me, and the gods, when you’re munching on a warm bacon and egg breakfast sammy on your way to work Wednesday morning? You betcha. Alright, let’s do thissss-
It’s officially that time of year where soup is considered a proper dinner. Something about the warmth of the soup, paired with some nice hearty #glutenfree bread and a glass of vino just warms the soul, you know? So the other day I pulled out my newest toy, my Vitamix, and I whipped up some homemade butternut squash soup with, you guessed it… bacconnnnn!
This recipe is truly as easy and tasty as it sounds, and if you get pre-cut butternut squash you’ve cut your prep time down to five minutes, tops. I’ve included the recipe below, try it out and let me know what you think!
As my birthday rapidly approaches, twenty-six is feeling a tad older than I expected it to, heck I’m officially going to be in my upper 20’s! These are the years where I’ve always pre-destined my “plans” to begin. And while I may not have it all figured out just yet, I can say that at 26 I’m feeling more confident in my own skin than I ever have.
But trust me- this has been 26 years in the making. I’ve gone through plenty of ups and downs, and I’ve ย lacked confidence in every aspect of my life, including my weight, my skin, outfits, even my writing, and Iย think that’s normal. Going from college, where a bodycon dress is an appropriate outfit on a Thursday night, to an industrial business conference where panty hose are required can down right confuse a girl. Not to mention, these days lash extensions, and a never-ending tan have become the norm, and it can begin to feel like regular old you doesn’t cut it anymore. But that’s just not true, and the world has proven to me over and over again that I’m most attractive and successful when my confidence shines through. So, at the ripe old age of almost 26, here are my five ways to boost your natural confidence, allowing you to forget the filter and life your best life.
