This upcoming weekend is Super Bowl Sunday! Hooray Sports! I get a lot of questions around this time of the year, like “what can you eat?” or “is butter a carb?” (#meangirlsquote) But really, I do get asked quite a bit if I can enjoy the Super Bowl along with the rest of my friends. My answer to that is always -hell yes! The past couple of years we’ve been going to Brett’s friends house for the game, and they always put out an immense, almost entirely gluten-free spread. The first time they pulled this off, they knew almost nothing about my allergy- and to this I say- if they can pull it off on their first try, so can you! But this post is more than just easy gluten-free super bowl snacks, it’s a collection of some healthier, protein focused recipes that you can whip up without missing a play (or in my case, a commercial). Oh- and they’re all dairy free. HOW CAN THIS BE? You’ll see. I’ve also included a naughty surprise at the end as well as some drink ideas. Intrigued? Excited? … Salivating? Huddle up and let the recipes commence!
Top 10 Meal-Prep Tips For The Working Crowd
November 7, 2016I really wanted to call this post my “Top 10 meal prep tips for anyone too hungover on Sundays or peeps who ain’t got time for that” but the formatting was all off, so, I went with “working crowd” assuming you know what I meant. But let’s get to the point shall we? Meal prep- everyone talks about it like it’s for people who have nothing else to do on a Sunday, but in actuality- it’s all about your mindset. If you “can’t even” when it comes slicing and dicing some fruit and veggies for the week, but you’re totally down to bake some pumpkin muffins or throw a chili together to smell all day while you watch football, you’re cheating yourself out of all the meal-prep possibilities I’m about to share with you.
That being said- these tips aren’t going to keep you chained to the cutting board for hours, or make you brave Costco on a weekend (unless you’re into that gauntlet atmosphere like me). We all know it’s much more fun to prep with a glass of wine on Sunday night than over a rushed cup of coffee Monday morning, so pause Netflix and try some of these- you’ll thank me around Wednesday.
With two years in the books, Brett and I wanted to celebrate our anniversary with some good eats! Fun fact about me- I keep a running log of places I find in Chicago with gluten-free options so that I can review them as soon as I have the opportunity. So when it came time to pick a place to eat for our Friday night celebration, I handed Brett the list and told him to surprise me. On Friday night at 8:00pm sharp our uber rolled up to Hub 51, and we eagerly headed inside.
Review: Sunda Chicago- River North
September 23, 2016Last Saturday night my friend Jackie and I had a night out on the town. Not knowing where to go for dinner, but eager to find a new place that did gluten-free right, we settled upon Sunda: A New-Asian restaurant that has an extensive cross-cultural menu, and an even more impressive gluten-free menu. So we strapped on our heels and headed to River North; what awaited us was worth the adventure!
This summer I had the privilege of vacationing in Destin, FL with Brett and his family. While Gluten-free travel can sometimes be a bear, I know that one of the best things I do to prepare for any vacation, is to start my research about a week ahead of time. My hope is that whoever reads this post can add this info to their future travel tips, making the gluten-free lifestyle that much less stressful. So- without further adieu, here is how I successfully handled a week of gluten-free travel and dining in Destin!
