Memorial Day In The Burbs

May 30, 2015

Even though I’ve recently become a city girl, part of my heart will always be back in the burbs… there’s truly nothing like sitting on the porch, grilling with your family, and celebrating the freedom to do so!

Amanda and I headed back home early Monday morning from our girls weekend in, just in time for our mother’s annual Memorial Day lunch.

Suzie Q definitely know’s how to make any holiday special. Her attention to detail is something I hope to inherit!

Even down to the salt and pepper, the woman’s patriotic!ย imageThe feast was nothing short of impressive: Cheeseburgers compliments of Brett, a.k.a. the “Grill Master” according to Mikey B, potato chips, potato sticks, fruit galore, corn on the cob, kidney bean salad, and of course, home brewed idea tea.

Those are Canyon Ranch’s GF buns we picked up at Target, by far my favorite brand.ย Dessert was an option of GF brownies or GF chocolate pudding with a GF Oreo hiding at the bottom, topped with whipped cream. Brett agreed to have one so that I could have the other… he know’s the key to my heart.

After lunch we went to say goodbye to Ike one last time before heading to Brett’s sister’s house to see his new niece Emlynn!

Ike isn’t much on goodbye’s…imageIsn’t she precious? I tried not to hog her but ended up holding her for quite some time. Her big brother Emory has been so good with her, I can’t wait to watch the two of them grow up!

All in, a wonderful Memorial Day, with food, family, and friends. How was your Memorial Day? Comment below!
